Kayaking for Change

ABC Rural Report Broken Hill NSW - 27 July 2007

A global concern has motivated an individual man to tackle the massive mission of paddling a kayak from Brisbane to Adelaide.

Steve Posselt, 54, is on a journey called Kayak 4 Earth, which is raising awareness of climate change and the need for humans to live more sustainably.

After nine weeks, he has reached the Darling River town of Louth and so far has had to pull his kayak like a horse in a harness for the same distance as he's been able to paddle it. However, he is currently enjoying a good uninterrupted stretch of river until he gets close to Wilcannia.

He says his goal is to promote sustainable living in the light of man-made climate change. But he says he has been very surprised that many people he has met along the way, including those in Bourke, are strong climate change sceptics.
