CLIMATE activist and adventurer Steve Posselt has reached Adelaide after an epic inland journey from Brisbane along the Murray-Darling river system.

Mr Posselt has pulled and paddled his three-wheel kayak 3500 kilometres in just four months.

The 54-year-old civil engineer from Ipswich, arrived at Glenelg this morning, where he had a hearty celebratory breakfast. He then completed the final 13km of his journey by walking his kayak along Anzac Highway to Adelaide Town Hall.

Mr Posselt said his trip had shown people were in denial about climate change. "People don't understand the issue of climate change and the dire situation that they're in," he said.

"I would have to say that almost the whole river system until I got to the Murray was made up of people who are in denial about climate change.

"Mr Posselt said solving the problems of the Murray-Darling system should not be left to politicians. "I think that the Howard government has been reprehensible in conveying climate change information to the Australian public," he said.

Mr Posselt left Brisbane on May 27 unaware of what the trip would entail.

On the way, he has encountered log jams, dry rivers, mud and breakdowns, including a freak wave accident at the Murray River mouth that nearly destroyed his kayak.

On the Murray, Steve enjoyed racing house boats to keep himself entertained.

He paddled through Renmark, and had an unexpected night at the Mannum hospital, before arriving at Lake Alexandrina in mid-September.

Steve attempted paddling the southern ocean last week but was forced to walk overland from Victor Harbour where he paddled to Glenelg.
