Brisbane Man to Kayak to Adelaide

A Brisbane man will today begin his attempt to kayak and walk from Brisbane to Adelaide.

Steve Posselt, 54, has spent four years planning the trip.

The father of three says the expedition is to promote sustainable living.

"I really do want to make a difference," he said.

"I had a bad motorcycle accident and when I understood how close I had been to not making it I decided: 'well, I'd better make the rest of my life count, hadn't I?'"

Mr Posselt says the trip should take six to seven months.

"I want to be back by Christmas and Bruce - Bruce and Kerry are the support crew, and they want to be back by Christmas," he said.

"So if it looks like I'm not going to be back by Christmas, I guess the whips will be out."
