Day 6 Report

Day 6 - 17/4/08 - The Conondales

We arrived at the bottom of the Conondale Ranges about lunch time. John and Jason had spent all morning trying to send e-mails without success, hence delays in posting to the web site. Next G mobile has been problematic this trip whereas we were quite impressed out on the Darling last year.

The range was steep. The top has lots of steep ups and downs as well and Postmans Track on the way down was very steep. At the bottom I was having trouble with controlling my knee joints so I said I would walk another kilometre or so to get them working again. After about five more steps I fell down and so gave up for the day.

We have covered 242km, 28km for the day, including some very big hills. I was at the very limit of my strength at times and I reckon on the way down if I had trodden on a rock I would have been on my backside and sliding. But it was all fine.

I would challenge everyone to go to Stoney Creek Road between Kilcoy and Woodford and drive what I did. You head towards Woodford, turn left towards Beerwah, and left again to Bellthorpe. At the top of Bellthorpe Range road turn right. At the Maleny – Stanlye River Road turn left and after less than a kilometre turn left again into Postmans Track. I guarantee you will enjoy the drive.
